The Be-Do-get Principle

Updated: Sep 26, 2025

(Be → Do → Get)

Most people live their lives backwards. They believe:

“Once I get what I want, then I will feel the way I want to feel. Once I get the relationship, the promotion, the healing, the abundance—then I will finally be happy, loving, confident, free.”

But that is not how life works. That is the model of cause and effect, and it keeps you stuck, waiting for something outside of you to change before you give yourself permission to be who you truly are.

The Way We Are Taught

Think about the story we have all been told.

You start in elementary school. Study hard so you can do well in middle school.

Then middle school comes—work even harder so you can get into the right high school.

High school? Push yourself, take the tests, get the grades, so you can get into a good college.

Then in college—grind, hustle, perform—because that is how you will get into grad school, or land the job.

Then the job—work hard, climb the ladder, so you can buy the house, find the partner, get married, have kids…

And then, finally—after all of that—you are supposed to live happily ever after.

But here is the thing…

Why are we waiting until the end of the story to start living happily ever after?

Why not flip the script?

Why not be happy, be fulfilled, be whole right now—and let everything else flow out of that?

The Be-Do-Get Flip

That is exactly what Be-Do-Get teaches us:

Who you are being shapes what you do, and what you do creates what you get.

We are human beings, not human doings. Being is the foundation. From it flows your doing, and from there comes your getting.

And here is the beautiful truth: when you are in the ways of being, life and the universe respond. Doors open. People arrive. Opportunities unfold. The energy you embody attracts everything you need to create the reality that matches it.

When you start by choosing your being—confidence, love, joy, freedom—your actions naturally align with that state, and the life you have been chasing begins to meet you.

Everyday Stories

Sarah and the Promotion

Sarah thought: “If I get the promotion, then I will feel confident.” But when she chose to be confident first, she spoke up more, took initiative, and carried herself differently. Soon enough, the promotion came—not because she waited for it, but because she embodied confidence first.

Daniel and Love

Daniel believed: “If I find the right partner, then I will feel loved.” Instead, he chose to be loving now. He showed up with warmth and kindness, and before long, he attracted a partner who matched his energy. He did not get love to feel whole—he was whole first, and love reflected that.

Maria and Health

Maria told herself: “Once I lose the weight, then I will feel healthy.” But by choosing to be healthy first—eating nourishing food, moving her body with care—her actions aligned, and her health followed.

The Takeaway

Your being is the cause. Your doing is the effect. Your getting is the reflection.

Instead of following the script of “someday I will be happy,” flip it. Start with happiness, love, and fulfillment now, and let life rise to meet you.

Be → Do → Get.

That is Be-Do-Get. That is alignment. That is transformation.
